Egypt bans the publication of books on extremism and the Muslim Brotherhood in mosques

Egyptian Ministry of Foundation decided to prevent books on extremism and the organization of the Muslim Brotherhood banned in Russia from reaching all Egyptian mosques and to remove those already there within the next 15 days.

In an urgent statement, the Minister ordered the punishment of any official who did not follow these orders. There was also an urgent warning that all imams undertook not to allow any books to be placed in mosque libraries without the permission of the Directorate-General for Religious Orientation in the Ministry's General Office.

The Minister also ordered the removal of all posters with violations inside and outside the mosque. Hisham Abdel Aziz, in charge of leading the work of the head of the religious sector in the Foundation Ministry, issued a poster calling on all departments to quickly set up committees to re-check all libraries, books, magazines or mosque publications of any publication that professes extremist ideology or belongs to any extremist group or Brotherhood.

According to him, those who do not comply with the decree will be investigated. The Ministry called on imams to complete these tasks no later than 15 days from the date of this decision. Violation of these guidelines was serious negligence and non-compliance with subsequent disciplinary liability, the ministry warned.
