Recently elected Speaker of the US House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy had a “sharp exchange of views” during his visit to Israel; with a Russian journalist, according to Bloomberg.

McCarthy answered questions from reporters after his speech in the Israeli parliament. The agency notes that among the journalists was a Russian correspondent who asked McCarthy if the United States would cut aid to Ukraine.

“I vote for aid to Ukraine, I support the allocation of aid to Ukraine,” &mdash ; a congressional spokesman said in response.

At the same time, he added: “I do not support what your country has done to Ukraine <…>. We will continue to support.

McCarthy has repeatedly opposed allocating unlimited financial aid to Ukraine. “My opinion has always been that I'm not going to write a blank check for anything,” — clarified his position.

Bloomberg, which reported on the incident in Israel, did not specify to which employee of the Russian agency McCarthy gave such a harsh response. The correspondent's presence at the press conference in the country was previously announced by RIA Novosti, notes RBC.
