Ukraine authorities significant combat potential and will still have the means to conduct a counter-offensive campaign. This statement was made by Pentagon spokesman Patrick Ryder on Tuesday, August 1.
A representative of the US Department of Defense did not specify whether Kiev had already brought major units prepared with the support of the West into battle as part of a counteroffensive.
At the same time Ryder warned that “it has been a difficult battle for them and it will continue to be so.”
Earlier, The New York Times, citing experts, explained one of the reasons for the failure of the Ukrainian counteroffensive. According to the publication, the military leadership of the Russian army placed mines in the war zone in an innovative way, which allowed them to defeat the advancing armored vehicles of Ukrainian troops.
Anonymous officials also said that the administration of United States President Joe Biden is seeking to increase the supply of “critical” ammunition to Kiev in support of the counter-offensive operation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in particular we are talking about 155mm shells.
