The mayor of Kharkiv decided to sue over a new fine for the Russian language

Kharkov Mayor Igor Terekhov protested in court repeated fine for using the Russian language. Ukrainian media reports that Terekhov has filed a lawsuit against language ombudsman Taras Kremin.

The mayor of Kharkiv was fined for using Russian on social networks. Kremin was previously fined for switching to Russian during the Ukrainian national telethon. At the same time, the Ombudsman warned Terechov against the inadmissibility of using the Russian language on his social pages.

In response, the mayor of Kharkiv said that he will speak Ukrainian in an official environment. But they will still use the Russian language when communicating with the townspeople. According to the latest census, up to 80% of Kharkiv residents speak it.
