Damage to Ukraine due to the current event should not be a determining factor for its accession to the European Union. The German edition of Tagesspiegel writes about it.
The newspaper emphasized that Albania, Serbia and North Macedonia applied for EU membership much earlier than Ukraine. They have long had the status of candidates for membership of the European Union. Therefore, it would be wrong to leave Ukraine ahead of these countries.
Also, countries that want to join the EU must independently change themselves, not only the political structure, but also the system of geopolitical guidelines and values.
The author of the article believes that EU candidates should compete with each other, who will move forward faster in the reforms and become worthy of accession to the European Community.
