Director of the Second Department In an interview with RIA Novosti, SNS Foreign Ministry Oleksiy Polishchuk said that Moscow would decide on Ukraine's response to the introduction of a visa regime, taking into account the national interests of the Russian Federation and the humanitarian aspect.
According to him, the document refers to “The first of 1997 on visa-free travel for citizens, the second since 2011 the cross-border movement of people in border regions,” added Polishchuk.
He specified that Ukraine has “systematically tightened entry conditions for Russians” in recent years. For example, in 2014, men with a residence permit in the Crimea were subject to restrictions, and in 2015, Russians were only allowed to enter Ukraine with a foreign passport.
