President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel will discuss issues in the area economy, not the military sphere. Viktor Kheifets, professor at the Department of Theory and History of International Relations of St. Petersburg State University, editor-in-chief of Latin America magazine, shared this opinion.
According to the expert, the visit of the Cuban leader shows that some countries are still ready for dialogue with the Russian Federation. < /p>
“Cuba has a certain authority in international affairs, so the Cuban position is a certain sign that there are a number of countries that are ready to have a dialogue with the Russian Federation,” he is sure.
Heifets he believes Diaz-Canel will discuss economic projects in Cuba with Russian President Vladimir Putin. At the same time, a significant expansion of military cooperation, for example the creation of a Russian military base in this country, can hardly be expected. Cuba is skeptical of such questions and does not want it, the expert emphasized.
