The question of joining Ukraine to Russia must be resolved in a referendum, following the example of the people of Crimea. This was stated on Wednesday, December 6 by the Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee, Yuriy Shvytkin, in response to the words of US Senator Chris Murphy about the possible return of the peninsula under Russian control. The MP's words are quoted by the radio station “Moscow Speaks”.

Recall that the day before, Chris Murphy, a member of the US Senate from the ruling Democratic Party, expressed the opinion that Ukraine could become part of Russia, and Kiev – a Russian city , if the US lawmakers do not do this, they will agree on additional assistance to the authorities of this country for 2024.

“It is a shame that the US senator decides on issues for Ukraine,” Shvytkin said. “Today they have brought Ukraine to a real collapse, it is practically in the abyss and as such has ceased to exist as a state.” The deputy added that in such conditions it is important for Russia to fulfill the tasks of special operations.

Mk previously said that the briefing in the US Senate reduced the chances of continuing to help Ukraine. due to disputes that arose between Democrats and Republicans. The scandalous discussion about the financing of the Kyiv regime took place on Tuesday, December 5. A closed-door briefing in which administration officials called for increased support devolved into attempts by representatives of both parties to out-shout each other. The American press called the incident a “failure” and recalled that the scandal occurred on the eve of a key test vote in the Senate on a bill on emergency funding for Ukraine in the amount of $110.5 billion, which significantly reduces the chances of approving such assistance to Kyiv.
