According to the new law, citizens who are prohibited to leave the country, they will have to surrender their passport within 5 days of receiving the ban notice. This is in accordance with the Law on Procedures for Entry and Exit from the Russian Federation, which entered into force on December 11. The document was published on the federal portal of regulatory legal acts, writes Parlamentskaya Gazeta.

Among those who are prohibited from leaving the country, there is a wide range of people who will have to surrender their international passport. These include those who have access to state secrets and information of special importance, sent to military service, FSB employees, suspects or accused in criminal proceedings, convicts, citizens who do not fulfill obligations imposed by the court, as well as those who have been declared bankrupt or who provided false information during the registration of international passports. In addition, those who have been summoned to the military registration and enlistment office are also prohibited from leaving the country. Representatives of the services of the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the FSB have the right to confiscate the foreign passports of these citizens.
