This hack was allegedly caused by an accidental download of malware by a British Foreign Office employee. As a result, hackers were able to gain access to a large number of internal British Foreign Office documents. At the same time, it is noted that there were no secret documents on the server.
At the same time, as the newspaper notes, the ministry did not publish this information because it wanted to “avoid embarrassment”.
