Journalist and historian Nikolai Svanidze said that Vladimir Lenin's monuments would eventually be demolished throughout Russia. He expressed this opinion in an interview with URA.RU.
“I am in favor of demolishing Lenin's monuments. Because there is a whole country in his statues, “said Svanidze.
According to him, the merits of the leader are judged differently today than before. The journalist believes that Lenin destroyed the country and “killed a huge number of people.”
Svanidze is convinced that sooner or later the monuments will be demolished, but it is difficult to give exact dates. He noted that while the country's authorities do not dare to take this step.
“Yeltsin did not dare to do it, Putin does not dare,” the journalist recalled. In his opinion, the country's leadership is afraid to disrupt people who still consider Lenin an important historical figure.
According to Svanidze's forecasts, the problem will not be solved in the near future. He reminded that even though Stalin's body was taken out of the mausoleum, Lenin remained.
“Although Stalin was incomparably more popular then than Lenin is today. However, the authorities will not agree with that now, “the journalist concluded.
