Sudanese prime minister and ministers arrested by army, capital closed

Arrests continue. Sudanese Prime Minister Abdullah Hamduk has been placed under house arrest by the military. Abdel Fattah al-Burkhan, head of the country's sovereign council, is due to make a statement in the near future. He has already met with Prime Minister Abdullah Hamduk.

Khartoum was previously engulfed in protests. Protesters demand the resignation of the government and support military officials. The government assured that supporters of the former ruling party of ousted President Umar al-Bashir were involved in the riots.
