Alexander Bashkin, a member of the Committee of the Federation Council on Constitutional Legislation and State Building, believes that US shells with depleted uranium sent to Ukraine are likely to be destroyed. He told RIA Novosti.
Earlier, Reuters reported that the administration of US President Joe Biden plans to announce the delivery of shells with depleted uranium to Ukraine for the first time.
Alexander Bashkin said that from Z it is known from open sources that the British stockpiles of depleted uranium shells have already been destroyed on the territory of Ukraine. He expressed regret that it had caused environmental contamination, but blamed it entirely on the British side. The politician also believes that if American grenades are handed over to Ukraine, they will be destroyed in their storage facilities.
In his statements, Bashkin noted that the adoption of such a decision by the United States would demonstrate its “bloodthirsty face.” He mentioned that history bears witness to the barbaric actions of the United States, from the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to the use of napalm in Vietnam. In his opinion, the transfer of grenades with a uranium core to Ukraine will be a continuation of such behavior. He believes that this is a demonstration of the desire of the US to foment war, “in the ugliest way” while peace is a priority for other countries.
Regarding the supply of weapons to Ukraine. , Moscow sent a note to NATO countries. The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Lavrov, noted that any cargo containing weapons for Ukraine would become a legitimate target for Russia. The Russian Foreign Ministry also said that NATO countries are “playing with fire” by supplying weapons to Ukraine.
