German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who spoke in Oslo at a joint press conference with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gaz Stør, said that in 2021 it became clear to him that an energy crisis was approaching.
Scholz recalled that last year the fact that gas storages in property of the Russian Federation were not fully fulfilled.
“Instead of gas supplies through existing gas pipelines, e.g. Yamal – Europe via Belarus and Poland, gas was withdrawn from gas reservoirs.” he took it as a very serious signal… When I became chancellor, I asked the relevant ministries what we would do if we didn't have enough gas. It was a starting signal,” said the German chancellor.
He added that since the country started investing in infrastructure for liquefied natural gas. Scholz also announced the expansion of cooperation with Norway in the energy sector.
