Permanent Representative Russia in the European Union, Vladimir Chizhov said that the German authorities must certify the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline within four months. According to him, this is usually allocated to this procedure.

“The deadline, as they say, is January 8,” Chizhov stressed at a press conference.

At the same time, he noted that Berlin could complete the process earlier. In this case, it will be better only for end consumers.

Speaking of the pipeline itself, Chizhov noted that it was built and the first pipeline was already filled with gas. “Certification remains to be completed,” the diplomat said.

The construction of Nord Stream 2 was completed on September 10. The process of certifying Nord Stream 2 AG as an independent pipeline operator is currently underway. The procedure will take place in two phases. In the first phase, the German regulator draws up a draft decision, which must then be assessed by the European Commission. This process is expected to take several months. & nbsp;
