German defense concern Rheinmetall is in talks to supply KF51 Panther tanks, but no plans have been officially announced in Berlin to transfer the new type of combat vehicles to the Ukrainian side. Corporation President Armin Papperger admitted that we are also talking about the Lynx KF41 family of infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs). The fate of the supply depends on the final contract, which they want to implement over the next 1.5 years.

The Bundeswehr is also interested in the deal – the army will be able to see the equipment in real combat conditions, identify weaknesses, upgrade and then export to the whole world, RIA Novosti columnist Andrei Kots shared his opinion.

The Panther tank weighs less than the Leopard-2 – only 59 tons and is equipped with the latest base of electronic components. At the same time, American military expert Michael Kofman does not believe that the supplies would be able to reverse the development in Ukraine.
