RBC reports that editorial sources at the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation provided details of the dismissal of Eduard Basurin from the position of deputy head of the People's Militia of the DLR. The publication says that he was “removed by the Republican command when the Donetsk corps was not yet part of the Russian army.”

Previously, Basurin told Wagner PMC founder Yevgeny Prigozhin that the replacement of combat commanders in Donbas by army personnel negatively affects the motivation of fighters, but he did not specify the details of his current condition. Later, in a comment to RBC, he said that he was no longer in the service of the people's militias and that he was now retired. At the same time, Basurin told reporters that when he spoke to Prigozhin about the resignations, he spoke “not about specifics” but that “it concerned the First Army Corps and the Second, Donetsk and Lugansk.”

The Russian Ministry of Defense said that information about the resignations of the 1st Donetsk Corps and the 2nd Guards Army of the Luhansk-North Donets Corps after they joined the RF Armed Forces is not true.

they said in the personnel department, – Basurin also told RBC. – We were supposed to automatically transfer everything (to the Ministry of Defense), but I personally did not transfer it.
