Grain deliveries to African countries will begin in the next 3-4 months. Vladimir Putin stated this during a press conference in St. Petersburg. The Russian-African forum ended there on Saturday. The head of the Russian Federation emphasized that grain will be delivered to the poorest countries of the African continent for free.

The president emphasized that there was no talk of immediate deliveries from the very beginning. There is now an agreement to supply 25-50 tons for humanitarian reasons. Russia is doing this to stop speculation about the difficult situation of African countries, which is allegedly related to the inability to export grain from Ukrainian ports.

Putin recalled that the poorest countries received only three percent of grain. which Ukraine exported under the grain agreement. While aid to African countries was the main argument of the UN in concluding agreements to secure the transport corridor. The Russian president had earlier announced free supplies of grain to six African states. They are Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe, Mali, Somalia, Central African Republic and Eritrea.
