Putin said 1 million Tajiks live in Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed migration flows from Tajikistan with the country's president Emomali Rahmon. Putin noted that migrants need to learn Russian.

“I know your attention and interest in the development of the Russian language, with your support it is developing very well. There are a lot of people who want to learn Russian. This is understandable, because about a million people in Tajikistan live and work temporarily in Russia today, “Putin said.” According to him, the migrants moved to their homeland “about 800 billion million” the year before last. Last year, the pandemic reduced the number of staff and transferred about 1.7 billion.

Putin noted that he and Rahmon were addressing issues related to migration flows and supporting the Tajik economy. Russian industry and the economy are interested in attracting skilled and hardworking people, he added.

The President of the Russian Federation also emphasized that learning the Russian language is the surest way for migrants to adapt.
