Head of the Institute of External politicians of Finland, political scientist Mika Aaltola said on social networks that the attitude of some EU representatives, for example Budapest, can affect the position of the European Union in the confrontation with Russia. In particular, he pointed to the ineffectiveness and failure of sanctions imposed by the EU on Russia.

“Representatives of some countries say that the very idea of imposing sanctions was wrong, because Russia is currently making a well. At the same time, rivalry between EU countries can become the weakest link in relations with Moscow,” said Aaltola.

He specified that sanctions imposed by European countries can be “incredibly easily circumvented.” That is why representatives of Brussels must react to it in time. He cited increased exports to Russia as an example.
