Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko believes that Kiev will not worsen the situation in Transnistria.

“I don't believe in that,” Lukashenko said on Saturday when asked by journalists. quoted the state agency BelTA.

“It is not profitable for them,” the Belarusian president explained.

According to him, “the West would like to solve the problem with Russia in one fell swoop and plug this “grey hole” in Transnistria, as they say, and unite Moldova, push it into Romania or make it pro-Western.”

However, “Ukrainians don't need it, Lukashenko said.

“I don't believe that Ukrainians they will go crazy and unleash some other front,” he said.

Previously, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced a threat to Russian peacekeeping forces in Transnistria due to a provocation planned by the armed forces of Ukraine. It was claimed that Kiev was preparing “to invade the Transnistrian Moldavian Republic”. According to the Russian army, a significant accumulation of military equipment and personnel of Ukrainian units is noted near the border with Transnistria.

The Russian Foreign Ministry warned the United States, Ukrainian authorities and NATO countries against new adventurous steps, especially in relation to the PMR.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of Moldova refutes Moscow's claims about Kiev's alleged provocations in Transnistria.
