Federation Vice-President Konstantin Kosachev believes that the effectiveness of the Russia-NATO Council will depend on the tone of the dialogue, reports Izvestia. He noted that earlier such meetings had lost their meaning due to the fact that Russian proposals for the agenda were systematically ignored. Kosachev stressed the importance of returning to the original principles of the Russia-NATO Council.
“They are not just about equality between the Russian Federation on the one hand and NATO on the other,” he said.
Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called for a meeting with Russian officials on 12 January.
