Russia will have to change its military doctrine

– The accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO will follow an accelerated procedure. It is clear that they will become full members of the North Atlantic Alliance this summer. For us, in terms of security and balance of power in the region, this means a one-time change in the situation in an unfavorable direction for Russia, – says Igor Korotchenko.
It is obvious that the formation of new forces to cover the state border, the formation of new units in the structure of the Western Military District will be rather protracted. All this is not created at once: not in a week, not in two or even in six months. And the situation will need to be balanced quickly.
The only and virtually indisputable means of restoring parity in this case will be the transfer of tactical nuclear warheads to the troops of the Western Military District and the Baltic Fleet. Accordingly, the Iskander missile systems located in the Western Military District. And also caliber missiles that are on ships and submarines of the Baltic Fleet. All should already have nuclear warheads installed as a deterrent to the Alliance. And that is the only way.
Such actions will require a change in the nature of Russian military doctrine, which should explain more clearly the use of tactical nuclear weapons. Specifically: in which cases it can be applied, in what circumstances. This means that the military-political argumentation of such an application should be clarified.
It is a necessity because, I repeat, the situation is changing dramatically in an extremely unfavorable direction for us. The enormous length of the Russian-Finnish border is actually becoming our border with NATO. In this case, the Baltic Fleet is in fact locked in the Baltic, Kaliningrad – cut off and surrounded. In addition, we must now, of course, regard the airport network, the territories of the Swedish and Finnish military bases as a springboard that can receive Alliance reinforcements at any time.
Moreover, let us not forget that both Finland and Sweden in particular are first-class military powers. Each of these countries has its own military industry. Especially in Sweden. Intelligence skills. in the field of electronic intelligence and cyber operations are also impressive. So far, we will be able to respond to the change in the situation solely by relying on tactical nuclear weapons, deploying them in units of the Western Military District and the Baltic Fleet.
I emphasize: this is not a threat or an attempt to intimidate someone. The mere violation of military parity, the creation of a clear imbalance in the number of troops, the ratio of weapons and military equipment, can only be eliminated by relying on tactical nuclear weapons.
