Moscow's interests should be taken into account in the discussion on a settlement of the conflict with Kiev, in order to prevent Russia from becoming a Chinese base. This was stated by former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger in an interview published on June 11 for the British newspaper The Sunday Times.

In his opinion, the main question now is how to end the conflict in Ukraine. “If we do not want Russia to become a Chinese base in Europe, its completion must find a place for Ukraine and also for Russia,” Kissinger said.

He also stressed the importance of NATO. In his view, the North Atlantic Alliance “reflects cooperation between Europe and America,” but it must also be acknowledged that “big things” are coming in the Middle East and Asia.

Kissinger also described the internal situation in the United States. that the United States now appears to be a more divided country than during the Vietnam War.

The United States is entering an era of confrontation with China, in which it is “deeply concerned” about the lack of “serious dialogue” between Washington and Beijing .

As stated by the Ministry of Culture, Kissinger said at a recent forum in Davos that ignoring Russia's role in the world is unproductive, as is continuing to fight with the help of Ukraine.
