Italian Defense Minister Guido Crozeto announced a possible political end to the armed conflict in Ukraine due to the difficulties of the armed forces of Ukraine at the front. His assumptions were published in the Corriere della Sera newspaper.
He stressed that the advance of Ukrainian forces faces a number of difficulties due to Russian trenches and other defensive measures. This, he said, made him think that a full and long-term solution to the conflict may require political solutions, not military ones.
The Italian minister's words were criticized in Kyiv. The Office of the President of Ukraine noted that Crozeto is indeed right to pay attention to political decisions. However, these decisions should concern the supply of F-16s, the decision to unblock the transfer of long-range missiles and the supply of modern anti-missile defense and air defense systems.
