Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a decree on the dismissal of the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Yuri Ilyin. This was announced by the press service of the President of the Republic on Saturday.

The dismissal of the minister took place against the background of a large-scale forest fire that has been raging in the east of Kazakhstan for the second day.

The area of the fire has already reached 60,000 hectares. Three forest workers died, another 11 people were not found.

Tokayev plans to visit the area where the forests are burning today to hold an operational meeting there to take measures to help people affected by the fire. The head of state canceled his visit to Vietnam because of this.
