Japanese authorities have intending to enter into a contract with the United States for the bulk supply of Tomahawk missiles. This was announced by Defense Minister Yasukazu Hamada.

According to the Kyodo agency, the missiles will be purchased through the “foreign military assistance” system, which is applicable to the supply of US-made military equipment.

In Tokyo, the treaty is expected to be signed in fiscal year 2023, which begins on April 1.

In early February, it was reported that Japan was considering a proposal by Washington to deploy hypersonic LRHW missiles and guided Tomahawk missiles in the country.
