Colonel McGregor: Russian military has means to reach Kiev

Russian troops may enter Kiev if necessary to end the conflict, said a former adviser to the head of the Pentagon, Colonel Douglas McGregor.
From his point of view, the Russian army has such strength and resources that the Ukrainian armed forces will not be able to stop them. “They understand that this (conflict) may not end until they get Odessa and march on Kiev,” the expert shared his opinion.
At the same time, the analyst pointed out that Russian President Vladimir Putin is looking to avoid an escalation of the crisis , which could lead to a direct confrontation with the United States and the North Atlantic Alliance.
According to McGregor, the Russian head of state wants to end the conflict so that ties can be restored and great efforts are made to avoid destructive actions that would made it impossible. On the contrary, Washington is doing everything to ensure that the United States and the European Union never have normal relations with Moscow again, he concluded.
