Members of the Constitutional Commission Belarus has decided to remove from the country's constitution an article about the country's efforts to be neutral. This was announced by a member of the commission Alexander Shpakovsky.

“The wording on the desire to build a neutral state is from Article 18 of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus. The new edition of this article was adopted unanimously, “he wrote in his telegram channel.

Article 18 states that the country is based on the principles of non-use of force, peaceful settlement of conflicts, excludes military aggression against other countries.

The chairman of the Constitutional Commission and the Constitutional Court, Petr Miklashevič, reminded that Belarus is a member of the CSTO and is in fact part of the military-political bloc. Therefore, it is necessary to bring the provisions of the law into line with objective reality, Belta states.
