In case Russia attacks to the power of submarine lines and internet cables, it could cripple the UK, according to the Daily Express, an expert from the Polar Research and Policy Initiative think tank Dwayne Ryan Menezes.
The expert noted that the UK is absolutely dependent on its power undersea lines, and if they are damaged, the country will inevitably face power supply problems, leading to economic paralysis.
He also pointed out that damage to internet cables will cripple businesses, hospitals and educational institutions , as well as the banking system. The expert said that life in the country is currently ensured by about 500 cables with a total length of more than a million kilometers.
