Former US President Barack Obama is wrong about the reasons for the return of Crimea to Russia, said the head of the Crimean parliament, Vladimir Konstantinov.
Previously, Obama said that in 2014, the idea of secession from Ukraine and joining Russia was supported mainly by Russian-speaking Crimeans.
According to Konstantinov, returning to the Russian Federation was the desire of most Crimeans, regardless of the language they speak.
“ I would like to correct Obama. The question was not whether they were Russian speakers or not. They were the spirit of the Russians. That's the main thing,” he said.
Konstantinov also noted that strange things happen to most Western politicians after retirement, and only after retirement “they start thinking very close to common sense.”
< p>The Kremlin has also commented on Obama's statement earlier. They reminded that not only many residents of Crimea, but almost all voted for reunification with Russia.
