Hungary struggled with national interest issues during negotiations in the European Union and was exempted from the need to apply a cap on Russian oil prices. This was announced by the foreign minister of this country, Peter Szijjarto.

The diplomat also described the price ceiling as a measure harmful to the European Union. In his opinion, in order to reduce prices, it is necessary to increase the number of energy carriers.

In October, it became clear that the price restriction will not apply to the supply of Russian gas to Hungary. It was then announced by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán.

On December 2, it was revealed that the G7 countries and Australia agreed to introduce a maximum price of Russian oil at $60 per barrel. Some states, including Ukraine, the Baltics and Poland, demanded a stricter price ceiling of $30 per barrel.
