Germany did not recognize the elections to the State Duma in Crimea

The German government rejected recognize the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation, which took place on the territory of the Republic of Crimea. This was stated by the representative of the German government, Ulrike Demmer.

According to the official, Germany considers the reunification of Crimea and Russia to be a violation of Ukraine's sovereignty. Therefore, Berlin does not recognize the Russian parliamentary elections held in the Crimean peninsula.

Demmer also raised the issue of voting in the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation for the people of Donbas, who have passports of citizens of the Russian Federation. As noted by a representative of the German government, they are also a violation of international law.

Recall that previously in the Crimean Electoral Commission, the refusal of a number of countries to recognize the election results was called a double standard.
