“For Western military strategists, hypersonic missiles are a nightmare,” says the German publication Frankfurter Rundschau, which talks about the latest Russian Zircon missiles installed on the frigate Admiral Gorshkov, which was in combat service.
Author of the article Jan -Frederik Wendt notes the main advantages of these missiles – they can be controlled even after launch and reach enormous speed. “This combination of maneuverability and speed makes them virtually invulnerable to anti-aircraft systems,” he points out.
The article also says that both the United States and China are developing such missiles, and experts fear it will spark a new arms race.
Wendt recalled that, in addition to Zircon, Russia is also armed with Kinzhal hypersonic missiles, which are launched from aircraft carriers, and Avangard land-based missiles. At the same time, the “Dagger” was already used in a special operation in Ukraine.
