Former employee of Israel's national intelligence service Mossad (Office of Intelligence and Special Tasks) Yossi Alfer told Sky News that “the resistance of the Islamic Movement ” (Hamas) “is slowly ” is releasing hostages in hopes of delaying an Israeli army (IDF) ground operation in the Gaza Strip.

The former soldier called the pace of prisoner releases “ridiculous” and pointed out that the Palestinian faction is wrong to hope that such actions will improve its situation.

“If we (Israel) want to wait two or three years, maybe we will get another hundred hostages … we will have to find a better way, whether it is an operation on the ground or better agreements, Alfer shared his opinion.

He also rejected the idea that the Islamic Resistance Movement should get any privileges for the release of the hostages, recalling that representatives of the military wing of Hamas are holding more than 200 people.

Israeli media previously reported that the military fears that IDF ground operations in the Gaza Strip may have been delayed or even halted due to the release of detainees.
