Erdogan: renewal of the “grain deal” depends on the West

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the restart of the “grain deal” narrow it is related to the decisions of western countries. According to him, the Black Sea grain initiative will start working again immediately after the West fulfills its earlier promises. The Turkish leader made such a statement during the annual conference of Turkish ambassadors in Ankara on Tuesday, August 8.

“The revival of this project, which allows the export of Ukrainian grain to the markets through the Black Sea ports in the conflict, depends on the Western countries, which must to keep our promises,” Erdogan was quoted as saying by the AFP news agency.

The Turkish head of state also expressed some disappointment with the West for the lack of decisive steps that could use the positive sentiment created by the Black Sea Cereals Initiative to secure a ceasefire and ultimately resulting in long-term peace in the region.
