The plane accompanying the President of the Republic of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa, was detained for more than a day at the Warsaw airport. The reason was the discovery of dangerous substances on board. This was reported by the news service of the South African news portal News 24.

According to media reports, there were members of the presidential security service and also journalists on the plane. The delay was said to be caused by an error on the part of the Polish side.

The South African Ministry of Foreign Affairs clarified that dangerous substances were found on board, for the import of which the appropriate permit was not issued. In addition, there were people in the cabin whose presence the Polish side was not informed about in advance.

South African diplomats did not specify what dangerous substances were found. It is known that the President of the Republic of South Africa visited Warsaw in transit. From there, Ramaphosu went to Kyiv and Moscow to attend a mission of African leaders. They have already announced the preparation of their peace plan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
