Brazil's president is considering an ICC warrant for Putin's arrest

Brazilian President Luis Inácio Lula da Silva, who promised to invite his Russian colleague Vladimir Putin to the next G20 summit, is thinking about an ICC warrant for his arrest, writes G1.Globo.

The head of the republic, who announced the security of the Russian leader's visit to Brazil, supplied your statement. The courts, not the government or parliament, will decide on Putin's possible arrest during his visit, he said.

When asked if the head of Brazil would withdraw the republic from the International Criminal Court, Lula said he needed to study a better deal. The politician also noted that countries such as the Russian Federation and the United States are not participating in the court.

“I didn't even know about the existence of this tribunal. I want to know what size made Brazil decide to sign the contract. That's all I want to know,” the Brazilian leader concluded, expressing hope that the Ukrainian conflict would be resolved by November 2024, when Brazil hosts the G20 summit.
