Borrell was unable to say hello in Georgian

Head of European diplomacy Josep Borrell , who arrived in Tbilisi for a two-day visit, was unable to greet journalists in Georgian. He mispronounced the Georgian greeting several times.

At the very beginning of his speech he said: “I will try to pronounce it in your language: Gamardoijba.” One of those present in the hall loudly corrected Borrell: “Gamarjoba.” He tried to correct, “Gamardoba? Okay. Gamardoba!” Then the speech continued in English.

As for the program of the visit, the head of EU diplomacy intends to discuss with the leadership of Georgia the reforms that need to be carried out in order to obtain the status of a candidate country for the European Union. Additionally, topics include European investment in the Georgian economy.
