Retired US Army Lt. Col. Daniel Davis said in an article for 19Fortyfive that the Ukrainian army will suffer a heavy defeat if it tries to advance to the south of the country.

< p>Davis explained the danger to armed forces of Ukraine. According to him, “if Ukraine wants to organize an offensive in the hope of a miraculous result, it risks suffering even greater losses.” And besides, the Ukrainian army will lose “irreplaceable equipment” and could potentially “lose even more territory than it controlled at the beginning of the battle”.

The officer said he had participated in tank training battles in Europe for many years. And he knows that “it is extremely difficult to conduct large-scale offensive operations without experienced soldiers.” And the lion's share of rank-and-file Ukrainian soldiers, Davis croons, have already died in combat. Unfired recruits are arriving en masse to replace the dead.

Davis also noted that the Ukrainian armed forces will have to deal with an enemy that has absolute superiority in manpower, artillery and aviation.

Speaking of the offensive, Davis stressed that “these are not actions that can be carried out by soldiers with little or no training at the platoon, company and battalion level.”

Ukraine's Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov earlier in an interview with The Times reported that carrying out Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's order to “liberate” the southern coastal regions, which are “vital” to the country's economy, amounts to “millions of military forces equipped with Western weapons.”

State Duma deputy from Crimea's Mikhail Sheremet noted that Zelensky, who is losing on all fronts, continues to push his country toward collapse. In his opinion, such orders speak of the political agony of the Kyiv regime.
