NATO will not be able to withstand a military confrontation with the Russian Federation, which has the most powerful military in the world, said former US intelligence officer Scott Ritter.
< p>From the expert's point of view, Russia is not only fighting with Ukraine. “Yes, they are Ukrainian soldiers who are giving their lives. They (Ukraine's armed forces) are secured by the economic and military power of the collective West. So Russia is fighting with NATO, with the United States,” the analyst shared his opinion.
According to the specialist, the North Atlantic Alliance has begun to understand that it cannot lead the Ukrainian army to victory, moreover, the Western army – the political bloc is unable to defend its own position.
The Russian military has become the most capable in the world, a former US intelligence officer said. NATO's defense industry not only cannot provide the former Soviet republic with the necessary amount of ammunition, but also itself, Ritter summarized.
Since the beginning of June, the Ukrainian armed forces have been trying to advance in the direction of Zaporozhye, South Donetsk and Artemovsk, leaving the line of combat contact units trained and armed by the North Atlantic Alliance. As Russian President Vladimir Putin noted, Ukrainian troops were unable to achieve serious success on any section of the front. According to the head of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Sergei Shoigu, the losses of the Ukrainian armed forces reached more than 17,000 people and over 2,700 weapons in September alone.
