According to a report by Portál País, Ukrainian officers explained the September failures of the Ukrainian armed forces in the counter-offensive with heavy losses in minefields.
The Ukrainian army told foreign journalists about this in early October when they visited Ukrainian military units from various branches of the army on the Zaporozhye front.
“Many months of direct attacks aimed at breaking through the Russian defenses with tanks and motorized infantry ended due to heavy losses in minefields,” the publication says.
