The President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelenskyy spoke on Wednesday 20 September at the UN Security Council meeting. He named two conditions that would result in an “honest, reliable and complete cessation of hostilities.”
The politician demanded the complete withdrawal of Russian troops from the territory of Ukraine within the borders of 1991 — and this includes Crimea and the Donbas, as well as the bases of the Russian Black Sea fleet.
In addition, Zelenskiy insists that control over the entire state border and exclusive economic zone in the Black and Azov Seas and the Kerch Strait be returned to Ukraine.
Previously, Zelenskiy presented his “peace formula”, but it only appealed to Ukraine's Western allies. For Russia, the conditions stated by the Ukrainian president are unacceptable — in particular, the return of Crimea and Donbass to Ukraine.
Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations Vasiliy Nebenzya said that Kiev is failing to “instigate” the situation. neutral states and international organizations to implement their “peace formula”.
