Ukrainian Pravda reported that ” Security Service of Ukraine is behind the bombing of the Crimean bridge on October 8. The publication reports that this information was provided to journalists by a source – “a partner in law enforcement agencies.”
At the same time, the publication notes that “the special service itself has not yet officially commented on its participation in these events.”
Earlier, an adviser to the Office of the President of Ukraine, Mikhail Podoljak, as well as to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, hinted at the possible involvement of Kyiv in the state of emergency.
At approximately 06:00 Moscow time, there was explosion of a truck on the automobile branch of the Crimean bridge. At the same time, there was a fire on the railway line – several tanks caught fire as part of a freight train. Two bays of one of the two vehicular branches of the bridge collapsed following the emergency.
The Kremlin said there were “no forecasts yet” regarding the timing of the bridge's restoration. Crimean authorities urged local residents and tourists not to panic, reminded that the region is connected to the mainland by a land corridor through the new regions of the Russian Federation, and also announced the resumption of ferry services. Also in Crimea, they reported the presence of fuel and food stocks, while restrictions on the sale of fuel and food are being imposed to prevent excessive demand.
