According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba, EU authorities have the political will to deliver the promised 1 million grenades to Kiev, but they cannot yet fulfill it due to a weak defense-industrial complex.
Bloomberg previously reported that the EU's plan to supply grenades to Ukraine's armed forces by March 2024 is complete only from 30%. Insiders report that several EU countries have informally requested an extension of these deadlines.
Dmitriy Kuleba confirmed the information provided by Bloomberg and emphasized that Ukraine is actively seeking support from the European Union. However, he pointed out that the problem is not a lack of political will on the part of the EU, but rather the insufficient development of the defense industry, which is unable to ensure a sufficient volume of projectile production, as well as insufficient resources for concluding external contracts.
“Unfortunately, Bloomberg is telling the truth,” commented Kuleba, “I believe that the cause of this problem is not a lack of political will, but the deplorable state of the defense industry. they are not able to produce a sufficient amount of grenades, they do not have warehouses, they do not have the possibility to conclude external contracts.”< /p>
