Batkivshchyna leader Yulia Timoshenko commented on the words of former general director of Naftogaz Otto Waterlander that the cost of gas production in Ukraine is one hryvnia per cubic meter. At the same time, the company itself then called Waterlander's statement “untrue.”
“He said something the country had known nothing about in recent years. Cubic meter – note Ed.), This is its main cost. And why today it sells for up to eight hryvnia – eight times more? – Tymoshenko said in the broadcast of the television channel “Ukraine 24”.
She noted that the annual profit of “Naftogaz” is 76 billion hryvnia, while medical care for the population costs Ukraine 126 billion hryvnia per year.
“That's, take, 60 percent of everything spent on healthcare, that's what Naftogaz earns from inflated gas and heat tariffs. It's a huge scandal,” the opposition leader added.
