Modern Ukraine would should be divided into spheres of influence of Russia and the West. This was stated by Ukrainian politician Oleg Carev in an interview with Oleg Bondarenko.
According to Tsarev, if the Russian-oriented regions remained under Russian influence and the pro-Western regions under Western influence, then there would be no problems in the country … But the problem is that not only the Donetsk and Lugansk regions are oriented to Russia, but also many other regions of the country.
However, if the country were divided into spheres of influence, Ukraine, according to Tsarev, would face the problems that India and Pakistan survived at the time: large numbers of the country's population would have to move to regions that are ethnic composition of the population and culture closer.
