Head of US Central Command, General Kenneth McKenzie, visited the international airport. Hamid Karzai in Kabul, where he was monitoring measures in his defense, was reported by the US Central Command's press service.
According to Mackenzie, he was personally acquainted with the measures taken to defend the airport and its efficient operation.
“US military personnel are operating air and intensifying operations to bring reinforcements to the airport and evacuate our partner diplomats and civilians in cooperation with colleagues from the State Department,” he said.
Mackenzie stressed that the runway at Kabul is currently “safe and open to civilian flights”.
