Kiev disappointed decision Hungary to conclude an agreement with Gazprom on gas supplies bypassing Ukraine. This is stated in a statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic, published on the official website of the Ministry.
“We consider this to be a purely political, economically unjustified decision taken to please the Kremlin and to the detriment of Ukraine's national interests and Ukrainian-Hungarian relations,” the ministry said.
The diplomatic department believes that in the future it will be more advantageous for Budapest to receive fuel through gas transportation in Ukraine – it allows for an uninterrupted and shortest way of supplying gas to the EU.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs deplored Hungary's decision, which undermines the positive trends that have been achieved in bilateral relations.
The department also recalled that the fifth meeting of the Joint Ukrainian-Hungarian Economic Cooperation Commission took place this week in Budapest. As a result, the Ukrainian side has initiated a postponement of the action, as the agreement between Russia and Hungary has “a significant impact on Ukraine's energy security.” -Hungarian agreement with European law.
