France Press announces launch of Operation Taliban ( in Russia no movement) against Panjshir province, where Ahmad Massoud's troops hold territory. Massoud had previously rejected the Taliban's ultimatum and refused to give up. He said his forces would fight.
“Hundreds of Islamic Mujahideen are heading to Panjshir Province,” the agency quoted a Taliban spokesman as saying.
The movement added that it would try to establish control over the province after local officials refused to hand it over peacefully.
